Ms. Taylor Murray has been dancing since the age of 4 years old. She is classically trained in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Modern but has taken many classes to diversify her skills such as African-Caribbean Dance, Middle Eastern Dance, Ballroom, Commercial Dance and Hip-Hop. Having received training from acclaimed studios such as Anaheim Ballet, Millennium Dance and After-hours Dance, Taylor has worked countless hours on perfecting technique and training her creative voice. She danced at Whittier Christian High School all four years and was heavily involved in Dance Ensemble and the Dance Department during her time as a student. This is where she first discovered her love for choreography, modern dance and teaching because she was given opportunities to create her own dances and explore other styles as well as develop her own artistry.
After graduating from High School, Taylor continued her dance education professionally at Fullerton College and Cal State Fullerton University as a Dance Major, where she was able to master her technique, perform in ACDA (American College Dance Association), choreograph for the concerts and take classes on the pedagogy of dance, dance vocabulary and dance history. She worked with an after school program during college, for elementary kids combining dance with school subjects to help them excel in their academics and their social skills of problem solving and working together. As a WCHS alumni she knows how valuable Whittier Christian High School's values are and instills these same morals and characteristics into her own teaching style. Taylor's hope is that all students find their passion and reach their goals, dance gives her students not only the opportunity to grow in their technique, but a chance to become critical thinkers who develop life skills that will help them throughout their journey as adults. Dance gives students the foundation of perseverance, dedication and discipline that can apply to all areas of their dreams. Her goal as an educator is to create a safe and welcoming environment for each student to express themselves and become who God has formed them to be.
